In a mythical world by J.R.R TOLKIEN called Middle-earth there held a man named Hurin, from the house of Hador. Hurin has a family with a wife by the name of Morwen, a son named Turin, a daughter named Lolaith, a brother named Huor and a servant close to the heart by the name of Sador. The first thing that I had noticed is that all characters held a certain attribute about themselves. Hurin himself seemed to be a strong and valiant warrior with a kind curing heart(towards friends).Morwen is a nice character yet she is very strict and harsh most of the time. Turin inherited most of his father's traits, although he has the looks and pride of his mother. Lolaith was a lively and joyous young girl that filled the house with life, unfortunetly she died soon due to a plague, draining the happiness of the family. Sador taught Hurin many moral lessons, that being said he was the only one that could comfort Hurin in his time of need. This tale is, like I said before, in Middle-earth. There are many places that are mentioned. One is the secret fortress, the home of Hurin, and Angband (the lair of Morgoth). I can assume that Thingol’s home was beautiful and large because his whole population lived there and Hurin had a good time there. Hurin’s house is probably in a forest because they say that there were flowers and other plants everywhere. Both of these places were the exact opposite of Angband, which must have been bad and ugly because Morgoth was like that. The overall theme of what I’ve read so far seems to be somewhat gloomy yet there still is the sense of good to come in the near future. That being said from all that has occurred so far there is bound to be some hope and happiness soon.

CHILDREN OF HÚRIN The novel " Children of Hurin" needs to add somewhat more background information. It talks about Tolkien s world and more of "Lord of the Rings". This story takes place in the Middle - earth. Morgoth hated good and had betrayed the elves many times, he also had an evil military force. Recounting what had happened previously, Húrin and Huor were kids who were about to get captured by Morgoth and his evil military, but Thingol happened to save the two and put them in his secret fortress. About a year later, the two kids asked Thingol if they could go back to their home. Then Thingol had given them the okay to go back but had told them not to tell anybody about the fortress and the promise was made. Húrin grew up and had a family, he was a warrior and got married to a women named Morwen. They had two children, named Turin and Loliath, Turin was like his dad but had the looks of his mother which means that he was like a warrior but would keep his issues to himself. Loliath was much more happier and outgoing and she filled the house with joy but unfortunately she died due a curse. Everybody was sad and in those days Turin talked to sodor.
First Impression Journal on The Children of Hurin (Thineash John)
This book of The Children of Hurin provides some great historical material to Tolkien's world of Middle-Earth and adds even more richness to the Lord of the Rings. This addition to Tolkien's extensive historical background of Middle-earth fills in the gaps and fleshes out stories that have been mentioned and hinted at in other works by giving us a detailed and colourful look at the tragic story surrounding Turin and Nienor (Hurin's children) and the ongoing battle against Morgoth, the master of the Lord of the Rings' evil character, Sauron. In the first 20 pages in the book of Children of Hurin the book talks about the childhood of Hurin. They characters in the book have different personality and character. The characters in the book are Hurin, lord of Men of the house of Hador in Dor-lomin marries;Morwen Eledhwen;and they have two children, a son;Turin;and a daughter,Lalaith. Turin grows to boyhood. A kind woodworker in Hurin's employ ;Sador, becomes his friend. These are some characters introduced in the book.. Sodor was the servant of the house and Turin would only talk to sador since he always comforted him. After a while Húrin had to go to war in order to have a last battle with Morgoth. Húrin had lost the war and was captured and thingol went back to his secret fortress. Morgoth then told Húrin that he would make his family suffer and for this reason Hurin was kept alive. Turin went to Thingols fortress while Morwen stayed because go her pregnancy. Later in the book, I predict that he dies because he goes through numerous battles and fights.

Based on what I have read so far, I can say that I have a good enough inference of what will happen later on in the novel. But first, this story needs a little background information so that the reader of this assignment will better understand the significance of this tale. This story takes place in Middle-earth (J.R.R Tolkien’s mythological world), but occurs many ages before the War of the Ring. At this time, Morgoth was the Dark Lord and Sauron (the main antagonist in the Lord Of The Rings, which occurred ages after these first battles and conflicts) was his servant. Morgoth was the enemy of all good and had many times deceived the elves and had become the common enemy of all that had a slither of good within them. He had an evil army filled with different kinds of fierce creatures (the Balrog in the Lord of the Rings is just one of the old army) and an even more terrifying fortress called Angband. The Dark Lord lay a threat to all who lived in Middle-earth because he planned to become the unchallenged and all-powerful ruler of Middle-earth, and he had succeeded in taking quite a bit of it. For this reason, all the men and elves planned to overthrow the base of his empire once and for all and so they gathered all their forces, making a great alliance which included the dwarves too. All of them came to the gates of Angband. Many kings of men and elves and dwarves were present there. One of them was Hurin (I will get to him in a bit). And so they waged war. I will not get into the details of it because that is what the book is for, but cut to the chase, the army of good lost and most died except one king named Turgon, (who was able to escape with some his men to his own secret fortress) and Hurin, but he was captured. Now who is Hurin? Hurin was the son of a great man and he had a brother named Huor that loved Hurin just as much as Hurin loved him (and that is to say, a lot. Although Huor died during the war.). They had once been on the verge of capture when they were young, but were saved and taken to Turgon’s secret kingdom way before the war. There they stayed and grew close to the king and vise-versa, but soon, they returned and they never told anyone about the hidden fortress. Hurin then wed Morwen and became the father of Turin and Lalaith, although Lalaith did not live long and died at the age of three. Turin was Hurin’s eldest son and Lalaith was Hurin’s loving daughter, but she soon died and instead came another daughter named Nienor, but she arrives much later. So once Hurin was captured, he was taken to Morgoth and chained. There he and Morgoth threw words at each other and then Morgoth prophesized the doom of Hurin’s family. Hurin was kept alive only to watch the painful fate of his children. After the war, Turin was moved to Thingol’s kingdom (this elf king did not participate in the war, but was still a friend of good), because Turgon's kingdom was still hidden and so Thingol's kingdom was the only other somewhat kingdom that had had a safe passage, while Morwen stayed behind for some time (because she was pregnant) and that is when the twenty pages end. I assume that Turin is the main protagonist in the story (although the story, so far, does not mention a lot about Turin himself just yet). Since Lalaith dies early on in the story and the second daughter arrives later, it is revealed that Turin will be the main protagonist because the title is The Children Of Hurin and Turin is the only living child at the beginning of the book that lasts till the end. Turin is like his father with his personality, bt he took his mother's pride and looks. He seems to be strong like his warrior father, but hard in heart like his mother, making a rock-like character. I can assume based on this that he will also be a fine leader and since his father was a leader, he will also become one. I can also say that Turin will mostlikely save his father and kill Morgoth since he is the hero. What I assume is that Turin will live at his Thingol’s house and train there and there unti he arouses an army to fight against Morgoth jult like his father. As for Morwen and the coming daughter, they will play a role because the title is "Children" meaning both Turin and the other child. Possibly, since they are being separated, the second child will go with another group and become their hero just as Turin is Thingol’s then I hypothesize that they will both meet and merge armies and defeat Morgoth.
